Hi, I’m Abby!
Dogs have quite literally been my life since day one- I’ve lived and breathed them for as long as I can remember! Growing up in a mulit dog household and being the eldest daughter of the business owner Tam, I have always been immersed in training and have been happily serving as a “professional distraction” since I could crawl!
My sould dog was a beautiful little Shetland Sheepdog called Minx- a true diva and an exceptionally smart cookie. Together, we completed in agility, took classes in scent work, heel work to music, competition obedience and just about anything we could get our paws into!
More importantly, we worked to support the rehabilitation of reactive dogs, helped children build their confidence around dogs and loved to encourage young handlers to find their place in the training world. Those experiences helped shape our relationship and made me realise that training is about so much more than just following commands.
It’s about love, trust, patience (lots and LOTS of patience) and building confidence at both ends of the lead.
My return to Leaps & Bounds will be short and sweet, limited to guest appearances on a Saturday as I have taken a complete career detour into emergency nursing! But this will always be my true passion, I am SUPER excited to be back assisting classes and connecting with our wonderful clinets.
I’m all about creating a supportive environment where owners feel empowered, capable and confident in handling their dogs. I ADORE our puppy classes and helping to set them up for the very best start in life! But my geeky interest lies in reactive behaviour, and true desire to help owners better understand their dog, equip them with practical skills and work together to build the confidence needed to navigate the world successfully and safely.
I just can’t stay away, and can’t wait to watch you guys grow! xx
