JUNIOR BEHAVIOUR CONSULTATIONS
This service is relatively new to Leaps & Bounds and is for dogs under the age of 1 who are starting to develop behavioural issues as they move through puberty and adolescence. From the age of around 4 months up to around 18 months of age your puppy is going through some major hormonal and physiological changes which can lead to some unwanted behaviours developing such as attention barking, reactivity towards other dogs and people, regression in toilet training, inability to settle, chewing and destruction of funiture and toys and overexcitement when out on a walk. Which can be difficult to manage and can be stressful for the owner.
These sessions are different from our other 1:1 sessions, our Junior Behaviour Consultations begin with a 1.5 hour session where we will discuss with you the changes in behaviour you are seeing and look at why your pup feels the need to display this behaviour. The trainer will then work with you to create a rehabilitation plan which will consist of further 1 hour 1:1 sessions where we will work through behaviour modification techniques to help reduce the unwanted behaviour and teach you as owners how to understand your dog’s body language when they are trying to communicate they are uncomfortable or feeling under pressure. These sessions are designed to help both you and your dog feel more relaxed and confident being able to manage these behavioural changes as they are going through this tough time in their development.
