BEHAVIOUR CONSULTATIONS

Do you have a reactive dog on a lead and dread those daily walks, concerned about how your dog will react when he sees that dog across the street?

Has your dog had a negative experience and has now become anxious around other dogs and people?

Is your dog fearful of being left at home alone?

Has your dog become fearful around traffic?

If you answered yes to any of the above or have seen any other behaviour change occur in your dog, we can help you and your dog overcome these worries and concerns.

Our behaviour consultations are held with one of our qualified behaviourists and begin with a two-part assessment. The first part is a 1.5 hour behaviour consultation where we will discuss with you in depth what issues you are having and why your dog feels the need to behave the way they are. We will also arrange a 30 minute follow up session, this will be what we call a dog to dog/dog to human assessment. Please don’t worry, this will be held outside with a good distance between your dog and our stooge dogs and another trainer. This will allow us to observe your dog’s reaction when they see one of our dogs which will be under control and on the lead with one of our other trainers, whilst you are with our behaviourist who will support you throughout this session. If you feel anxious at this stage of the process, we would be more than happy to handle your dog for you. But please rest assured that this is carried out in a safe and controlled manner.

During the behaviour consultation your behaviourist will discuss a rehabilitation programme with you which will consist of further 1:1 sessions to work on behaviour modification techniques to help improve your dog’s behaviour and manage their reactions.

GIVE ME SPACE CLASSES

We also offer a specialised class called “Give Me Space” which is a smaller class with dogs who all have struggles whether that be through fear, reactivity or simply a lack of confidence. This is for owners who have been through a series of rehabilitation sessions who would like to take their training to the next level and would like to work their dogs around others with similar struggles.

We find most clients who join one of our Give Me Space classes are extremely supportive of one another, everyone understands and empathises with how difficult it can be to own a dog that struggles. The trainers are hugely supportive as they too have experience of owning reactive dogs.

We also offer a pack walk called “Woofers Walkies” this is where we invite a number of our rehabilitation clients to join us for a safe and supported natural walk.
