🐾JUNIOR BEHAVIOUR CONSULTATIONS🐾
Specialist support for dogs under 1 year old
Our Junior Behaviour Consultation service is a relatively new addition to Leaps and Bounds, created specifically for young dogs under 12 months old who are beginning to develop behavioural challenges as they move through puberty and adolescence.
From around 4 to 18 months of age, your puppy goes through major hormonal and physiological changes. During this time, some dogs can begin to display unwanted behaviours that may feel difficult to manage and stressful for both owner and dog.
Common Issues We Help With:
✅ Resource guarding
✅ Reactivity towards dogs
✅ Reactivity towards people
✅ Separation-related issues
✅ Anxiety or over-arousal
✅ Fear-based behaviours
✅ Sudden behavioural changes during adolescence
How These Sessions Work
These consultations are more in-depth than our standard 1-2-1 training sessions.
🔹 Initial 1.5 Hour Consultation
One of our experienced behaviourists will meet with you to discuss the behaviour changes you are seeing and explore why your dog feels the need to display these behaviours.
🔹 Tailored Rehabilitation Plan
We then create a personalised plan to support both you and your dog.
🔹 Ongoing 1 Hour Follow-Up Sessions
Further one-to-one sessions focus on practical behaviour modification to help reduce – and in many cases stop – the unwanted behaviours.
What You Will Learn:
✔ How to better understand your dog’s body language
✔ Signs your dog is feeling uncomfortable or under pressure
✔ How to support your dog before behaviours escalate
✔ Calm, reward-based management strategies
✔ Confidence in handling real-life situations
💬 Support Through a Difficult Stage
These sessions are designed to help both you and your dog feel more relaxed, supported, and confident while navigating this challenging developmental stage.
Qualified Behaviour Support. Kind Methods. Real Progress.
Early intervention can make a huge difference – let us help guide your young dog back on track.
🐾JUNIOR GIVE ME SPACE CLASSES🐾
Specialist small-group classes for young dogs who need extra understanding
We also offer a specialised class called Junior Give Me Space, created for young dogs who have completed our Junior Behaviour Rehabilitation Programme and are ready to take their training to the next level.
These small, carefully managed classes are made up of young dogs with similar struggles, whether linked to:
🐶 Fear
🐶 Anxiety
🐶 Lack of confidence
🐶 Reactivity around dogs or people
🐶 Difficulty coping in busy environments
Why This Class Is Different
Junior Give Me Space is designed for owners who would like to continue progressing their dog’s training around other dogs, in a safe and understanding environment.
It’s also a place to train alongside people who truly understand what it is like to have an adolescent dog who is finding life difficult to navigate.
What We Focus On:
✅ Building confidence around other dogs
✅ Calmness and focus in shared spaces
✅ Controlled exposure to real-life situations
✅ Strengthening handler connection
✅ Rewarding calm choices
✅ Developing coping skills for everyday life
💬 A Supportive Community
We find that clients who join any of our Give Me Space courses are incredibly supportive of one another. Everyone understands and empathises with how difficult and isolating it can feel to own a dog that struggles.
Experienced & Compassionate Trainers
Our trainers are hugely supportive and many have personal experience of owning reactive or sensitive dogs themselves.
You are not alone – and neither is your dog.
Safe Space. Shared Understanding. Real Progress.
