Our hugely popular next-stage adolescent course
Puppy Progress 2 is designed for puppies who have completed our Foundation and Puppy Progress 1 courses and are ready for the next challenge in their training journey.
This exciting course builds on the skills your dog has already developed, while introducing many more visible and audible distractions to prepare them for real-life situations and work towards reliable off lead control.
At around 8 months old, your dog is firmly in the adolescent stage – what we like to call the terrible twos!
You may feel like you have a teenager in the house, with testing behaviour, selective hearing, and boundary pushing becoming all too familiar. This stage can be frustrating, but it is also a vital part of development.
Our goal is to continue strengthening the bond between you and your dog, helping you both confidently navigate this tricky stage together.
During This Course We Will Cover:

Work on recalls in a more natural environment while maintaining safety and control.
✅ Loose Lead Walking with Real-Life Distractions
Build calm, focused walking skills around the distractions you may meet on everyday walks.
✅ Effective “Leave It” Skills
Combine a reliable leave it cue into your walks and daily life.
✅ Introduction to Off Lead Walking
Begin safe off lead work in a controlled environment to build confidence in your dog’s abilities.
✅ Behaviour Modification Techniques
Learn practical reward-based strategies to address common adolescent behaviours and improve focus.
💬 Experienced Trainer Support
Our trainers are on hand throughout the course to guide, support, and help you get the best from your dog during this challenging but rewarding stage.
🐾 Extra Support When You Need It
While we always encourage attendance at classes for continued social development and learning to work calmly around other dogs, we understand that some behavioural changes during puberty can feel overwhelming. It can be upsetting to see your puppy struggle or become stressed in class.
For puppies needing more individual support, we also offer Junior Behaviour Consultations with one of our behaviourists. These 1-2-1 sessions are designed to help you work through specific challenges in a calmer environment with tailored guidance and support.
