🐾PUPPY PROGRESS 1🐾

The next step after Puppy Foundation

Our Puppy Progress 1 course is the perfect follow-on from our Puppy Foundation Course, designed to build on the fundamental skills you and your puppy have already learned.

As your puppy reaches around 4–5 months old, they begin to enter adolescence – much like a teenager, their hormones start to change and this can have a big impact on behaviour.

You may notice your puppy starting to:

🐶 Push boundaries

🐶 Ignore basic commands

🐶 Become easily distracted

🐶 Suddenly “forget” their recall

🐶 Test your patience with selective hearing!

This stage is completely normal and extremely common in young dogs. It’s also one of the main reasons many owners choose to continue their training journey with us.

What Puppy Progress 1 Helps With:

✅ Strengthening recall and focus

✅ Improving lead walking and engagement

✅ Reinforcing basic obedience skills

✅ Managing distractions and overexcitement

✅ Building calm behaviour and self-control

✅ Continuing positive social development

💬 Trainer Support Every Step of the Way

Our experienced trainers will guide you through this challenging stage with effective reward-based training, practical advice, and ongoing support to help both you and your puppy succeed.

🐾 Extra Support When You Need It

While we always encourage attendance at classes for continued social development and learning to work calmly around other dogs, we understand that some behavioural changes during puberty can feel overwhelming. It can be upsetting to see your puppy struggle or become stressed in class.

For puppies needing more individual support, we also offer Junior Behaviour Consultations with one of our behaviourists. These 1-2-1 sessions are designed to help you work through specific challenges in a calmer environment with tailored guidance and support.

Adolescence doesn’t have to be a struggle – let us help you turn challenges into progress.
